TV Everywhere:  Is the transmitter dead, or will it live on?

Presented by: Michael Guthrie, Sales Director - Harmonic

Over the course of this year you may have noticed that video programming is becoming available on a multitude of devices.  Comcast Xfinity TV, Netflix, Blockbuster, Cinema Now, Youtube, iPad streaming, iPhone streaming, Android streaming to name just a few of the new ways people now watch their favorite programs.  Major pay TV programmers are creating a new market for their programming based on a “pay once, view everywhere” model.  But not much has been heard about the local station in this phenomena.  Is there a need for a transmitter when 90% of the viewers receive their programming over Cable, Telco or Satellite?  How does mobile fit into this new world?  Does ATSC Mobile compete with or complement the 3G and 4G streams available from the wireless providers?  This presentation explores both the technologies and the business models behind these new distribution models, and where the big iron and stick fit into the lives of viewers in a TV Everywhere world.
